Product Information

Tetrad Caledonian Petit Sofa in Bracken Herringbone upholstery, featuring deep button tufting, stud detailing to the scrolled arms and turned wooden feet and complementary scatter cushions

Description

Rich in traditional British character without feeling oversized, the Tetrad Caledonian Petit Sofa brings together the familiar elegance of Chesterfield styling with a more manageable footprint for modern homes. Upholstered in Bracken Herringbone Harris Tweed, the fabric introduces natural texture and subtle tonal variation that works especially well alongside oak furniture, layered neutrals and country-inspired interiors.

Deep button tufting across the back and seat gives the sofa its classic Caledonian identity, while the generously shaped scroll arms soften the overall silhouette and create a more inviting, relaxed feel than sharper formal Chesterfields. Stud detailing along the arms adds definition without overpowering the tweed, allowing the woven herringbone pattern to remain the focal point.

Its smaller scale makes it particularly effective in rooms where larger heritage sofas would feel too dominant. In cottages, reading rooms, apartments or secondary sitting spaces, it delivers the same handcrafted feel and visual depth associated with traditional British upholstery while keeping the room lighter and more usable.

Handcrafted in Lancashire using time-honoured upholstery techniques, the sofa combines a solid hardwood frame with hand-tied sprung support for a seat that feels supportive yet comfortable enough for everyday use. The turned wooden feet complete the look with a more classic furniture-led finish that suits both traditional and country contemporary interiors.

Complementary scatter cushions help break up the buttoned detailing and add another layer of softness to the overall presentation, making the sofa feel welcoming rather than overly formal.

FAQ's

Does the Bracken Herringbone fabric feel traditional or contemporary?

Bracken Herringbone leans more towards classic British country styling, though the softer neutral tones stop it feeling overly formal. The weave adds texture and depth rather than strong pattern contrast, making it easier to pair with both traditional and more relaxed interiors.

How compact does the Petit Sofa feel in a room?

Despite the Chesterfield-inspired detailing, the Petit Sofa has a noticeably lighter presence than many traditional deep-buttoned sofas. The proportions work especially well in narrower living rooms, cottages, apartments and smaller seating areas where full-sized heritage sofas can feel too heavy.

Does the buttoned design make the sofa feel firm?

The deep buttoning gives the sofa a more tailored, supportive sit rather than an oversized sink-in feel. It still feels comfortable for everyday use, but the overall seat profile remains structured and refined in keeping with the Caledonian design.

What type of interiors does this sofa suit best?

Its warm tweed upholstery and turned wooden feet make it particularly suited to country homes, period properties and relaxed classic interiors. It also works well in modern homes that mix softer natural textures with more traditional statement pieces.

Do the studded scroll arms make the sofa look formal?

The stud detailing adds definition and heritage character, though the softer tweed fabric balances the look nicely. Compared with darker leather Chesterfields, this sofa feels more welcoming and relaxed while still retaining a classic shape.

Are the scatter cushions included in the overall look?

Yes, the complementary scatter cushions help soften the structured buttoned silhouette and add extra comfort visually as well as practically. They also introduce more texture and layering against the herringbone upholstery.

Is Harris Tweed practical for everyday living spaces?

Harris Tweed is valued for its durability as well as its distinctive woven texture. The fabric gives the sofa a more substantial, heritage-inspired feel and tends to age gracefully in everyday family living spaces.

Does the sofa work better as a statement piece or part of a full furniture scheme?

This sofa can comfortably do both. In smaller rooms it naturally becomes the focal point, while in larger interiors it works well alongside wood furniture, textured rugs and classic upholstered pieces to create a layered, collected feel.
