Product Information
Description
Some buttoned sofas can feel visually heavy, but this one is handled differently. Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed gives the Hexham a drier texture and a calmer, lighter tone, so the high back and winged shape feel refined rather than overbearing. It has the character of a traditional British sofa, yet the fabric keeps the overall look approachable and easy to live with.
The detailing is what gives the piece its depth. Deep buttoning draws the eye across the back, the rolled arms are picked out with warm tan leather, and brass studs give the outline more definition without making it feel fussy. Set on tapered wooden legs, the sofa sits with enough lift to avoid looking bulky, which matters on a two-seater with this much shape.
Handcrafted in Britain, the Hexham brings together Harris Tweed, leather and wood in a way that feels rooted in British furniture making rather than styled for effect. It works especially well alongside oak or walnut pieces, painted furniture, wool rugs and other tactile finishes. Feet-only assembly keeps set-up straightforward, and the mix of materials gives it the sort of character that should become more appealing with regular use.

FAQ's
How does Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed change the look of the Hexham?
It gives the sofa a softer visual weight than a darker leather finish would. The tweed keeps the high back, buttoning and winged shape feeling lighter and more textural, so the overall look is heritage-led without seeming too heavy.
Does the high back make the Hexham better for upright sitting?
Yes. The winged back and buttoned shape encourage a more upright, supported sit than lower, loungier sofas. It suits reading, conversation and everyday sitting well, especially if you prefer a seat with a little more structure.
Will this sofa feel too bulky in a smaller room?
In most spaces, no. The two-seater width helps, and the exposed wooden legs lift the frame visually so it does not sit like a solid block on the floor. The lighter tweed also makes the buttoned back feel less dominant.
What do the tan leather arm details add to the design?
They bring warmth and definition. The leather draws attention to the scroll of the arms, breaks up the tweed nicely, and gives the sofa a more layered, considered finish than an all-fabric look.
Does the Hexham feel like a main sofa or more of an occasional piece?
It can work as either, depending on the room. In a smaller sitting room, snug or study, it has enough presence to act as the main sofa. In a larger room, it works well as a character piece alongside plainer upholstery.
How will the tweed and leather wear over time?
Harris Tweed tends to hold its structure well and usually develops a slightly lived-in softness rather than a shiny surface. The leather trim may deepen in tone with use, which generally adds to the sofa’s heritage look.
What does feet-only assembly actually mean?
It normally means the main body of the sofa arrives assembled, with only the feet needing to be attached before use. That makes set-up simpler than a sofa that comes in multiple large sections.
What sort of interior does this finish work best with?
This colour and material mix sits comfortably with oak or walnut furniture, painted cabinetry, linen curtains, wool rugs and warm metal finishes. It suits traditional schemes well, but the neutral tweed also helps it sit neatly in quieter modern interiors.
