Product Information

Vintage Sofa Company Chester Lodge 2 Seat Sofa in Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed Fabric with tan leather arm panels, deep buttoning and turned wooden feet with front castors

Description

The Chester Lodge 2 Seat Sofa takes the familiar Chesterfield shape and gives it a more textured, more liveable finish through its use of Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed. The woven surface adds depth and natural variation across the body, while the tan leather panels on the scrolled arms bring warmth and sharpen the outline. That combination is what gives the sofa its identity. It feels more layered than a plain fabric two seater and less heavy than a full leather Chesterfield, which makes it a strong choice for interiors that want heritage character without too much visual weight.

Its buttoned back and seat create the structured look expected from a Chesterfield, helping the sofa feel tailored rather than loose or casual. Brass stud detailing defines the leather sections and adds a more resolved finish, while the turned feet with castors reinforce the traditional furniture feel at the base. Together, those details give the Chester Lodge a strong visual presence, but the neutral tweed keeps the overall look more adaptable than darker, more formal upholstery.

This is a sofa that works particularly well in living rooms, studies, snugs and more traditional sitting spaces where a two seater needs to do more than simply fill a gap. It has enough character to hold the room, but it is still practical in scale and suitable for regular use. Made by Vintage Sofa Company, it also offers the reassuring build details buyers expect, including a hardwood frame, feet-only assembly and a 5-year guarantee.

FAQ's

What makes Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed a strong upholstery choice for this sofa?

Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed gives the sofa a denser, more characterful finish than a flatter plain fabric. It adds texture and heritage depth, while the lighter tone keeps the overall look softer and easier to place than a darker leather Chesterfield.

Why are the rolled arms finished with tan leather panels?

The leather panels help define the scrolled shape and bring warmth against the tweed body. They also make the outline feel clearer and more deliberate, giving the sofa stronger contrast and a more traditional finish.

Does the buttoning make the sofa feel more formal than a standard two seater?

Visually, yes. The buttoning gives the sofa the structure and rhythm associated with classic Chesterfield design. In use, the tweed softens that effect, so it still feels comfortable and liveable rather than stiff or overly dressy.

How does this compare with a full leather Chesterfield sofa?

A full leather Chesterfield usually feels darker, smoother and more formal. The Chester Lodge keeps the same classic shape, but the tweed body gives it a warmer, more textural finish that feels slightly softer in the room.

Is this sofa best suited to traditional interiors only?

It sits most naturally in traditional, country and period-style rooms, but it can also work very well in mixed interiors where one heritage-led piece adds weight and texture. The neutral tweed helps it bridge classic and more relaxed contemporary surroundings.

What kind of room does this two seater suit best?

It works particularly well in sitting rooms, studies, snugs and smaller living spaces where you want a sofa with real presence but not the scale of a larger three seater. It is especially effective when one piece needs to anchor the room.

Do the castor feet make a noticeable difference to the overall look?

Yes. They help complete the traditional furniture feel and stop the base from looking too plain. Along with the turned legs, they give the sofa a more authentic Chesterfield finish.

Why choose this model over a simpler tweed two seater?

The difference is in the detailing. The combination of Harris Tweed, leather arm panels, deep buttoning, brass studs and castor feet gives the Chester Lodge far more shape and character than a straightforward fabric sofa, while still keeping it practical for everyday use.
