Product Information
Description
Designed for kitchens that need more surface area as well as better organisation, this Gallery Direct island pairs oak and oak veneer construction with a marble top and classic metal handles. The contrast between the pale stone surface and warm timber frame gives it a grounded, traditional feel, while the open base keeps the design practical rather than heavy.
Three drawers open from both sides, making utensils, cloths and smaller kitchen essentials easier to reach from either side of the island. Open shelving below gives space for cookware, serving pieces, folded linens or everyday crockery, helping the island work as both a storage piece and a useful preparation station. Its generous proportions make it best suited to larger kitchens where it can sit comfortably as a central feature.

FAQ's
Is the Hardwick Kitchen Island suitable for food preparation?
Yes, the marble top gives a durable, practical surface for preparation, serving and general kitchen use, while also adding a more refined finish than a plain timber top.
What makes the drawers dual-access?
The three drawers are designed to open from both sides, so items can be reached whether you are working at the front or back of the island.
What can the open shelves be used for?
They are useful for cookware, mixing bowls, serving dishes, recipe books, baskets, folded tea towels or decorative kitchen pieces you want close to hand.
What kitchen style does this island suit best?
Its warm oak finish, marble top and classic metal handles suit traditional, country, farmhouse and transitional kitchens, but it can also soften more contemporary cabinetry.
Is this better for a large kitchen?
Yes, its substantial width and depth make it best suited to kitchens with enough clear space around the island for walking, opening drawers and working comfortably.
Does the marble top change the feel of the piece?
Yes, the marble top gives the island a more polished and practical surface, balancing the rustic warmth of the oak with a cleaner, more elevated kitchen look.
Can this be used for informal entertaining?
It works well as a serving point for drinks, sharing boards or buffet-style food, especially where guests naturally gather around the kitchen.
Does the Hardwick Kitchen Island need assembly?
Yes, assembly is required, so it is worth planning access and placement before it is set up in the room.
