Product Information
Description
Built around a tall, upright silhouette, the Plumtree leans confidently into classic wingback styling. The higher back gives the chair its presence, and the curved arms stop that height from feeling severe. In Hunting Lodge tweed, the overall look feels grounded and heritage-led, with enough texture to give the shape warmth.
There is a practical side to that traditional design as well. A chair with this sort of profile works well when you want one piece to hold its own in a room, whether as a reading chair, fireside seat or a more formal occasional armchair. The substantial frame and hand-finished detailing add to that sense of permanence, so it feels like proper furniture rather than a lightweight accent piece.
Made by Vintage Sofa Company and built to order, the Plumtree suits interiors that favour classic upholstery, natural materials and a more established furniture style. It works especially well in rooms that need height, shape and a more traditional focal point, without relying on oversized scale to make an impression.

FAQ's
What gives the Plumtree its period look?
The tall wingback shape, curved arms and more formal outline are what give it that traditional upholstery feel. Hunting Lodge tweed adds texture and warmth, so the chair feels classic without looking flat or heavy.
How does Hunting Lodge tweed change the overall look of the chair?
It gives the Plumtree a softer, more textured finish than a smoother plain fabric would. That helps balance the formality of the shape and makes the chair feel warmer and easier to place.
Does the tall back make this chair better for longer sitting?
Yes. The higher back gives more support and adds to the enclosed feel of the chair, which makes it better suited to settled sitting than a lower occasional chair.
Are the curved arms mainly decorative?
No. They are part of the comfort as well as the look. The shape softens the outline of the chair and gives you a more supportive place to rest your arms when sitting for longer periods.
Is the Plumtree more of a fireside chair or a general living room chair?
It can do both. Its traditional proportions make it especially effective as a fireside or reading chair, but it also works well in a living room where one armchair needs to add more shape and presence.
Does being made to order affect the feel of the piece?
It adds to the sense of quality and permanence. Combined with the substantial frame and hand-finished detailing, it helps the chair feel more solid and furniture-led than a lighter accent chair.
What sort of interior does this chair suit best?
It sits most naturally in interiors that already use classic upholstery, wood furniture and softer textured finishes. It can also work as the traditional piece in a more mixed room, where the wingback shape adds contrast.
How much assembly is needed once it arrives?
Assembly is limited to the feet, so set-up is more straightforward than on pieces that need larger sections joining together.
