Product Information
Description
Rich burgundy, green and navy tartan gives the Tetrad Taransay Petit Sofa immediate warmth, with the darker leather scroll arms adding definition at either side. It has the charm of a traditional country-house sofa, but the smaller frame keeps the look contained and easier to place.
The petit size is particularly useful where a full sofa would feel too dominant. It still offers a deep, relaxed sit, yet its more compact width makes it well suited to bay windows, fireside corners, cottage lounges, libraries and bedrooms where the aim is comfort without crowding the room.
Leather detailing across the arms and base gives the piece more structure than an all-fabric sofa, while the tartan upholstery softens the overall feel. Brass studwork follows the curves of the arms, drawing attention to the upholstery detail without making the sofa feel overly formal.
This is a sofa that works best in layered interiors. Pair it with wool rugs, darker timbers, warm oak, antique brass lamps, checked cushions or plain cushions in rust, charcoal or soft cream. In a modern home, it can add depth and heritage texture; in a period property, it feels entirely at ease.
Handcrafted in Britain by Tetrad, the Taransay Petit Sofa brings classic materials, comfortable proportions and distinctive character into a smaller format.

FAQ's
How does the Taransay Petit Sofa feel compared with a standard two-seater?
It feels deeper and more substantial than many compact two-seaters, with a softer, more relaxed sitting position. The scroll arms and cushioned back make it feel more like a scaled-down country-house sofa than a small occasional seat.
Is the petit size too small for a main living room?
It depends on the room. In a smaller lounge, snug or cottage sitting room, the petit size can work beautifully as the main sofa because it gives character without taking over the floor space. In a larger room, it is better used as part of a wider seating arrangement.
Does the tartan make the sofa look too traditional?
The tartan gives it a clear heritage feel, but the darker, muted tones stop it feeling overly decorative. It suits traditional homes very naturally, yet it can also work in more contemporary rooms that use warm woods, textured rugs and softer lighting.
How does the leather change the look of the sofa?
The leather gives the sofa more weight and definition, especially around the scrolled arms and lower frame. It stops the tartan from feeling too soft or busy, creating a stronger, more tailored outline.
Where would the Taransay Petit Sofa work best?
Snugs, cottages, bay windows, bedrooms, reading rooms and smaller lounges are all good settings. It is especially useful where an armchair feels too limited, but a larger sofa would make the space feel crowded.
Does the darker tartan work with lighter interiors?
Yes, lighter walls and pale flooring can make the tartan feel more pronounced and intentional. Adding warm woods, brass lighting or cream textiles helps connect the darker upholstery to the rest of the room.
Why choose the Petit Sofa instead of the Midi Sofa?
The petit size is easier to place in tighter rooms and feels more intimate. Choose it where scale is the main concern, or where the sofa needs to sit neatly within a corner, window space or secondary room.
Can it be styled as a feature piece?
Yes, the tartan, leather arms and brass studs give it enough character to stand alone. It works especially well with simpler surrounding pieces, allowing the pattern and traditional shape to bring depth to the room.
