Product Information
Description
The Tetrad Braemar Chair combines relaxed comfort with tailored detailing, creating a piece that feels equally suited to traditional country interiors and more contemporary living spaces. Upholstered in Basalt Herringbone fabric with contrasting Old Bard piping, the chair has a richer, deeper appearance than lighter neutral upholstery while still remaining versatile and easy to place within a room.
The herringbone weave introduces subtle movement and texture across the fabric, helping the darker basalt tones feel layered rather than flat. Natural light catches the woven pattern differently throughout the day, giving the chair added depth and softness despite the stronger grey colouring. The contrasting piping sharpens the outline of the arms and cushions, bringing more structure and definition to the overall silhouette.
Its proportions are deliberately generous. The wider seat, deep cushioning and softly rolled arms create a more relaxed seating experience that encourages longer use, whether positioned in a lounge, reading corner or bedroom seating area. The slightly enveloping shape gives the chair a welcoming feel without appearing oversized or heavy.
Turned wooden feet reinforce the chair’s traditional British styling and create warmth against the cooler basalt upholstery. Together with the rolled arms and piping detail, they give the piece a more heritage-led appearance while still allowing it to sit comfortably alongside modern furniture and contemporary colour schemes.
The accompanying scatter cushion softens the look further and adds another layer of texture, helping the chair feel more considered and complete within the room. The combination of structured detailing and softer upholstery tones makes the Braemar feel refined without becoming overly formal.
Handcrafted in Britain using traditional upholstery techniques, the Braemar Chair balances decorative detail, comfort and durability in a way that feels timeless rather than trend-led. It is a substantial accent chair with enough presence to stand alone, while still working beautifully alongside coordinating sofas within the collection.

FAQ's
What gives the Basalt Herringbone fabric its distinctive look?
The fabric uses a traditional herringbone weave that creates subtle texture and movement across the upholstery. Combined with the deeper basalt grey colouring, it gives the chair a richer and more tailored appearance.
Does the Old Bard piping stand out strongly against the fabric?
The piping is noticeable enough to define the shape of the chair without feeling overly bold. It adds contrast around the arms and cushions, helping the detailing feel more refined and structured.
Is the Braemar Chair designed more for occasional use or everyday comfort?
The generous proportions and deeper cushioning make it very comfortable for everyday use. It works particularly well as a reading chair or relaxed lounge seat where longer periods of sitting are important.
Would this chair suit contemporary interiors as well as traditional homes?
Yes. While the rolled arms and turned feet reference classic British upholstery, the basalt grey colouring and cleaner fabric palette allow it to sit comfortably within more contemporary interiors too.
Does the herringbone texture make the fabric feel heavy visually?
No. The woven texture actually softens the appearance of the darker tones by introducing movement and tonal variation across the fabric, helping the chair feel more layered and balanced.
What type of room works best for the Braemar Chair?
It works particularly well in living rooms, reading spaces, bedrooms and home offices where a more substantial occasional chair is needed. Its proportions give it enough presence to anchor a corner without dominating the room.
Are the rolled arms purely decorative?
The rolled arms are an important part of the chair’s visual character, but they also make the seating experience feel more relaxed and supportive. Their softer shape gives the chair a more welcoming appearance overall.
Does the darker basalt fabric make this easier to style with wood furniture?
Yes. The deeper grey tones work especially well alongside walnut, oak and darker stained woods, helping the chair integrate naturally into more layered and textural interiors.
