Product Information
Description
Ebony Hounds Harris Tweed gives the Bowmore Chair a more tailored character than softer plain upholstery. The compact houndstooth pattern sits neatly across the frame, adding definition to the rolled arms, seat and back without overwhelming the chair’s proportions. It is a confident fabric choice, but not a loud one.
The shape is deliberately neat. With its upright back, softly rounded arms and deep sprung seat, the Bowmore works well where a full lounge chair might feel too large. It has enough presence for a fireplace, bay window or reading corner, yet remains refined enough for bedrooms, studies and smaller sitting rooms.
Charcoal and ivory tones make the chair especially versatile. The darker threads give it depth beside oak, walnut, dark painted furniture and leather accessories, while the lighter elements stop the houndstooth from feeling severe. Brass castors on the front legs add a period detail that suits the design without making it look overly decorative.
This is the chair for adding texture, pattern and British craft in a measured way. It feels considered rather than showy, with the durability and tactile quality of genuine Harris Tweed making it well suited to everyday use as well as occasional seating.

FAQ's
What makes the Ebony Hounds Harris Tweed distinctive?
Ebony Hounds has a crisp houndstooth pattern in charcoal and ivory tones. It gives the Bowmore Chair a smarter, more tailored look than softer plain fabrics, while still keeping the texture and warmth associated with Harris Tweed.
Does the Bowmore Chair suit traditional homes only?
No. Its rolled arms and castors give it a classic British feel, but the clean houndstooth pattern helps it work well in more contemporary interiors too. It looks particularly good where traditional furniture is being mixed with sharper, more modern pieces.
Is the Bowmore Chair a good choice for a smaller room?
Yes. Its proportions are compact enough for smaller sitting rooms, bedrooms, snugs and studies, while the deep sprung seat still gives it the comfort expected from a proper upholstered armchair.
How does the houndstooth fabric affect the overall look?
The pattern gives the chair more structure and definition. Rather than appearing soft and casual, the Bowmore feels neater, smarter and more composed, especially when placed beside darker woods or heritage-inspired interiors.
Are the front castors mainly decorative?
They add a traditional detail, but they are practical too. The front castors make the chair easier to adjust slightly in position, while also giving the Bowmore a more authentic period-inspired finish.
What colours work well with Ebony Hounds Harris Tweed?
The charcoal and ivory tones pair well with dark green, navy, tan leather, warm oak, walnut, burgundy, antique brass and natural wool textures. It is neutral enough to style easily, but patterned enough to add interest.
Is this chair suitable for everyday use?
Yes. The deep sprung seat, rolled arms and hard-wearing Harris Tweed upholstery make it suitable for regular use, especially as a reading chair, fireside chair or additional living room seat.
What makes the Bowmore different from larger Tetrad chairs?
The Bowmore has a neater footprint and a more understated profile. It still carries the character of a handcrafted Tetrad armchair, but it is easier to place where space is more considered.
