Product Information
Description
Seat Height: 64cm (+5cm for Seat Pad)
The Anouk Barstool brings a softer look to kitchen island seating. The woven rattan back gives it texture and character, while the upholstered seat pad makes it feel more comfortable and more finished than a simpler wooden stool. The timber frame keeps the overall look warm and natural, so it works well in kitchens that want something lighter, calmer and less bulky than a heavier bar chair.
It suits breakfast bars, kitchen islands and casual dining spaces where people do more than just sit down briefly. Morning coffee, lunch, homework, conversation and everyday kitchen use all feel more comfortable with a supportive back and padded seat. The shape has a gentle French bistro influence, but the finish feels easy to place in modern homes, country kitchens and more relaxed contemporary interiors.

FAQ's
Is the Carlton Furniture Anouk Barstool with Upholstered Seat Pad the right height for a kitchen island?
Yes, for many standard kitchen islands and breakfast bars it should work well. The listed seat height is 67cm, so it is best suited to counter-height surfaces rather than taller commercial-style bar tables.
Is this barstool comfortable enough for everyday use?
Yes. The upholstered seat pad makes it more comfortable for longer sitting than a hard-seat stool, and the backrest helps it feel more supportive for everyday meals, coffee or time spent at the island.
What makes this barstool different from a simpler wooden stool?
The main difference is the combination of comfort and detail. The rattan back gives it more character, while the padded seat makes it feel more usable for daily living rather than purely occasional seating.
Would the Anouk Barstool suit a modern kitchen only?
No. It works well in modern kitchens, but the wood and rattan also help it sit comfortably in country, coastal, relaxed classic and more natural-looking interiors.
Is a rattan-back barstool practical in a busy kitchen?
Yes, as long as it is looked after sensibly. Rattan helps keep the chair feeling visually light and adds texture, while also giving the backrest a more breathable feel than a fully upholstered design.
Does the upholstered seat change the look of the stool a lot?
Yes, in a good way. It softens the overall design and makes the stool feel more settled and more comfortable, while still keeping the airy look of the rattan back.
Would these look best bought as a pair or in a full set?
They can work either way. Two suit a smaller island neatly, while three or four can create a more complete kitchen setup if you have the width for them. The design is consistent enough to work well in a row.
What sort of kitchen style does this barstool work best with?
It suits kitchens that use natural materials and softer finishes. Painted cabinetry, oak details, stone worktops, brushed metals and lighter colour palettes all tend to work well with this style.
Is the Carlton Furniture Anouk Barstool more casual or more formal in feel?
It sits somewhere in the middle. The rattan and timber keep it relaxed, while the shaped back and upholstered seat give it a smarter, more finished feel than a very casual stool.
What should I check before ordering this barstool?
Check the seat height against your worktop or breakfast bar first, then measure the width you have available so there is enough space between each stool. It is also worth allowing room for people to sit and move comfortably.
