Product Information
Description
The charcoal finish brings added depth and contrast to the Whitwell design, giving the armchair a more defined presence than the lighter fabric options in the collection. Its darker tone enhances the structured shape of the block arms and highlights the soft texture of the upholstery, creating a look that feels smart, modern and quietly refined.
Button detailing across the back cushion introduces subtle visual texture without making the chair feel overly decorative. Combined with the slim tapered wooden feet, the design maintains a lighter appearance than many heavily upholstered armchairs, helping it sit comfortably in both compact and larger living spaces.
Its proportions make it particularly well suited to reading corners, paired seating layouts or as a complementary piece alongside the Whitwell sofas. The charcoal fabric also works naturally with warm woods, brushed metals, stone tones and layered neutral interiors, giving it broad styling flexibility without losing character.

FAQ's
Does the charcoal upholstery give the Whitwell Armchair a more formal look?
The darker fabric creates a slightly more tailored and defined appearance, though the clean lines and soft upholstery keep the overall feel relaxed rather than overly formal.
Is the Whitwell Armchair comfortable enough for long periods of sitting?
Yes, the wide seat cushion, supportive back and deep proportions make it well suited to everyday lounging, reading or evening seating.
Can this armchair work on its own or only with the matching sofa?
The design works well both ways. It can be paired with the Whitwell sofas for a coordinated look or used independently as a statement accent chair.
What type of interiors suit the charcoal finish best?
The charcoal tone works particularly well in contemporary interiors with layered neutrals, darker woods, black accents or industrial-inspired details.
Does the button detailing make the chair look traditional?
No, the button tufting is subtle and understated, adding texture and softness without giving the chair a heavily classic appearance.
Will the raised wooden feet help the chair feel less bulky?
Yes, the tapered feet lift the frame visually, helping the armchair appear lighter and more open within the room.
How much assembly is required?
Only the feet require fitting, making setup relatively quick and straightforward once delivered.
Is charcoal a practical upholstery colour for everyday living?
Yes, darker upholstery tones are often easier to style and can be more forgiving in busy living spaces while still maintaining a refined appearance.
