Product Information
Description
More refined than a bulky traditional sofa, the Salisbury is built around line, material and balance. The woven canvas webbing in soft washed green gives the piece its quiet character, while the curved oak arms and tapered legs bring the kind of sculptural detail that makes mid-century furniture so enduring. It feels open and airy in the room, but still finished and substantial.
Brown leather seat cushions bring in warmth and contrast, helping the sofa feel richer and more relaxed rather than purely decorative. They add contrast against the canvas, bring in a richer tone, and make the sofa feel more relaxed and usable rather than purely decorative. That mix of canvas, leather and oak is what gives the Salisbury its appeal. It has a clear design identity, but it does not feel overworked.
This two-seater suits living rooms, studies and smaller seating areas where shape matters as much as comfort. The 1950s-inspired frame gives it a strong visual profile, while the hand-woven webbing and solid oak construction add the kind of detail that buyers notice up close. Made by Vintage Sofa Company, it is a strong choice for interiors that lean towards mid-century, Scandinavian, contemporary or pared-back modern styling.

FAQ's
What gives the Salisbury its mid-century look?
Its 1950s-inspired frame is the key detail. The sculptural oak arms, tapered legs and clean overall silhouette give it the kind of shape associated with classic mid-century furniture.
How does the washed green canvas change the feel of the sofa?
It gives the Salisbury a softer and more relaxed look than a darker or heavier upholstery would. The colour keeps the sofa feeling calm, natural and easy to place in lighter interiors.
Do the leather cushions make the sofa feel more formal?
Not really. They add warmth and contrast rather than formality. Against the canvas and oak frame, the brown leather helps the sofa feel richer and more tactile without losing its easy, design-led character.
Is the woven canvas webbing mainly decorative, or does it affect the design in a bigger way?
It does both. Visually, it is one of the defining features of the sofa, giving the piece its distinctive texture and lighter appearance. It also reinforces the handcrafted, mid-century-inspired feel of the design.
What sort of room does the Salisbury suit best?
It works especially well in living rooms, studies and smaller seating areas where a full, heavily upholstered sofa would feel too dense. It also sits naturally in Scandinavian, mid-century modern and contemporary interiors.
How does the oak frame influence the overall look?
The solid oak frame is a major part of the sofa’s appeal. It gives the Salisbury structure, warmth and a more furniture-led finish, which helps it stand apart from softer, fully upholstered two-seaters.
Is this a good option for someone who wants a smaller sofa without losing style?
Yes. Its compact two-seat format makes it easier to place, but the frame, materials and silhouette still give it real presence. It feels intentional and design-focused rather than scaled down for the sake of it.
What makes this sofa different from a standard upholstered two-seater?
The combination of woven canvas webbing, brown leather cushions and a solid oak 1950s-inspired frame gives it a much clearer identity. Instead of blending into the background, it adds shape, texture and material contrast in a more distinctive way.
