Product Information
Description
Heritage materials are what give the Buckingham its appeal. Vintage Sofa Company pairs Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed with tan leather on the arms and inner wings, creating a chair that feels richer and more layered than a standard upholstered wingback. The tweed brings texture and depth, while the leather introduces warmth and definition around the areas that frame the sitter, giving the whole piece a more tailored, finished look.
The shape stays true to classic British upholstery. A tall back, pronounced wings and deep button tufting give the chair a strong silhouette and a more enclosed feel when seated. That makes it especially well suited to reading, relaxing or adding structure to a room that needs one piece with clear visual weight. Brass stud detailing sharpens the outline further, while the natural wooden legs keep the base from feeling too heavy.
This is the kind of armchair that works best when it is allowed to hold its own in the space. It suits studies, sitting rooms, fireside corners and bedrooms where a more traditional chair can bring texture, contrast and a sense of permanence. Fully assembled and made for regular use, the Buckingham is a strong choice for anyone looking for a Vintage Sofa Company armchair with classic wingback character and more distinctive material detail than a plain fabric design.

FAQ's
What gives Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed its distinctive look on this chair?
Hunting Lodge Harris Tweed has a denser, more characterful texture than many flatter upholstery fabrics, which gives the Buckingham a more authentic heritage feel. On this Vintage Sofa Company design, it adds visual depth across the full back and seat rather than reading as one flat neutral surface.
Why are leather panels used on the wings and arms instead of full tweed upholstery?
The leather breaks up the tweed and gives the chair more contrast, warmth and shape definition. It also draws attention to the outer lines of the Buckingham, which helps the wingback profile feel more pronounced and refined.
Does the Buckingham feel more formal than a softer lounge chair?
Yes, it has a more upright and traditional presence than a casual lounge chair. That is part of its appeal. The high back, buttoning and stud detail give it a more structured feel, while the upholstery keeps it comfortable enough for regular use.
Is this a true heritage-style armchair or more of a modern interpretation?
It sits much closer to a true heritage-style armchair. The wingback shape, deep button tufting, leather accents and brass stud edging all keep it rooted in classic British upholstery rather than a stripped-back contemporary version.
How do the brass studs affect the overall finish of the chair?
They frame the edges and make the shape look cleaner and more deliberate. On the Buckingham, the studs are less about ornament and more about giving the tweed and leather combination a sharper, more resolved outline.
Would this chair work only in country-style interiors?
No. It fits naturally into country and traditional rooms, but it can also work well in more eclectic interiors where one heritage piece adds texture and depth against cleaner furniture elsewhere.
Does the tall wingback shape make the chair feel more enclosed when sitting in it?
Yes. The wings and higher back create a more cocooned sitting position than a lower-backed armchair. That makes the Buckingham especially well suited to reading corners, studies and quieter rooms where you want a chair to feel supportive and settled.
Does the leather on the arms make the Buckingham easier to live with day to day?
Yes. The tan leather panels on the arms add warmth visually, but they are also practical in an area that sees regular contact. They help the chair feel more durable and better suited to everyday use than an all-tweed finish.
